Common Chinese Herbal Medicine Plants

1. Prunella vulgaris (Selfheal) / (夏枯草) 
Anyone have the cooking recepi for this herb/plant?
 
 Xia Ku Chao or "Har Ku Chou" (in Cantonese) is a herb to remedy heat where it cools the liver. Some claimed that it might calm hyperactive children.

Young seed is available for sales at RM5.00 a pot. 


2. BLACK FACE GENERAL
Black Face General a.k.a Hei Mian Jiang Jin 黑面将军 (Strobilanthes Crispus) aka Pecah Beling.


 Black Face General was known to have the property to elimination bad cells, and protects cells to growth. It is effective on antipyretic, detoxification, and relieve menstrual pain and uterine disease.

3. Napier Grass (馬草)

Pennisetum purpureum, also known as Napier grass, elephant grass or Uganda grass, is a species of perennial tropical grass native to the African grasslands.


4. Tin Chat 田七
 (Panax pseudoginseng, Panax notoginseng)
(田七就是三七) Tin Chat also known as Sam Chat.
Tien chi root is sweet and slightly bitter in taste, and warming in action. It stops bleeding while simultaneously reducing blood congestion and clotting. It also relaxes, detoxifies and repairs blood vessels, and speeds wound healing. It is a mild tonic. (Do not use during pregnancy)

5. 何首乌 héshǒuwū
Fallopia multiflora is a synonym for Reynoutria multiflora (Thunb.) Moldenke also called tuber fleeceflower, Chinese knotweed, and heshouwu (HSW, Chinese何首乌pinyinhéshǒuwūWade–Gileshe-shou-wu), is a species of flowering plant in the buckwheat family Polygonaceae. It is native to central and southern China.

F. multiflora is used in traditional Chinese medicine as a tonic and an anti-aging remedy. There is insufficient scientific evidence to determine its effectiveness for any treatment.
